Cyber-bullying in Australia

Following highly negative media coverage of cyber-bullying at one of Australia’s most prestigious private secondary colleges, SR7 was retained to identify existing and potential online and social media risks and to provide high-level analytical advice and strategies as part of an ongoing early warning and mitigation program.

The impact of the negative media coverage had the potential to result in falling enrolments and declining revenue.

SR7 undertook a comprehensive audit of social media platforms, providing quantitative and qualitative analysis and reporting to the School’s management team. The audit identified a range of high-risk elements to the school, including safety and security threats to students and employees that had not previously been detected. Acting on the risk advice and solution-based recommendations of the audit, SR7 was able to take immediate action on behalf of the School to eliminate current and emerging risks.

As part of the long-term mitigation program, SR7 has enacted a range of early warning monitoring and management protocols and systems allowing the School to take on-going pre-emptive action in mitigating brand damage amongst stakeholders, media and other community influencers.

The online risk and social media mitigation program has lead to the School implementing best practice through the provision of independent professional risk assessment and advisory services, resulting in good corporate governance, retention in student enrolments and positive recognition amongst stakeholders.
